Dutch-American journalist, author and media strategist based in Florida. A former radio and television journalist, he investigates what others leave alone: from the murder of Pim Fortuyn to American politics, the media and artificial intelligence.
Hans Izaak Kriek began his journalistic career in the Netherlands in 1972. He worked five years for AVRO, one of the country's major national broadcasters, followed by twenty years with TROS Aktua, the news and current-affairs division of TROS, in both radio and television. His later work included contributions to BNR Nieuwsradio, TV Binnenhof, The Post Online and the European Business Review.
Drawing on his experience as a journalist and interviewer, he founded Brain Box Mediatraining at the Media Park in Hilversum, the heart of Dutch broadcasting. With its own television studio and a network of professional trainers, Brain Box trained more than 8,000 spokespersons, senior executives and public officials. In 2002 he prepared senior officials of the Ministry of the Interior and the AIVD for their hearings before the Van den Haak commission on the murder of Pim Fortuyn.
Since 2008 he has lived and worked in the United States. Through K-Media he created Kriek's Focus on America, covering American politics, media and society, and he is Editor-in-Chief of Tomorrow's Journal. He has written nonfiction books and novels in Dutch and English, guided by the principle he has followed since 1972: ask direct questions, examine the evidence and question accepted narratives.
